EXTRICATION TRAINING
Mercer County Fire Academy,
Lawrence Station Road, Lawrence Township
On Saturday, October 11, 2003, 17 members of Lawrence Road Fire Co. attended an eight-hour training seminar covering the proper deployment, usage and care of the Holmatro extrication tools carried aboard Rescue 22.
The class, conducted by ESI Equipment, was held at the Mercer County Capt. John T. Dempster Sr. Fire Service Training Center located on Lawrence Station Road in Lawrence Township.
For most older members, the seminar served as a refresher of the basic Holmatro training course given back on November 12, 1994.
The morning hours consisted of classroom discussion on the features of the rescue tools and techniques in using them. After a brief lunch break, Station 22 volunteers reported to the training ground for hands-on operation of the tools cutting up two junked cars.
In addition to Rescue 22, both Engine 22-1 and Utility 22 were brought to the fire academy for the exercise.
Participating in the class were: Assistant Chief Wayne Hannon, Rescue Capt. Andrew Fosina, Capt. Chris Pangaldi, Capt. Gary Wasko, Lt. Michael Byrd, Lt. Michael Ratcliffe, Paid Driver Robert Santello, Ff. Martin Burch, Ff. Chris Dlabik, Ff. Joseph Dlabik Sr., Ff. Joseph Dlabik Jr., Ff. Justin Squibb, Ff. Michael Trimble, Junior Ff. Charles Commini Jr., Junior Ff. Ryan Dlabik, Junior Ff. Brian Friedeborn, and Junior Ff. R.J. Laird.
