SPECIAL LIGHTING ASSIGNMENT

Lawrence High School,
2525 Princeton Pike, Lawrence Township

During the night of Saturday, October 25, 2003, the Lawrence High School Cardinals played their first-ever nighttime football game when they hosted Allentown.

Portable floodlights were brought in to light up the football field. Rescue 22, meanwhile, was asked to stand by during the game and use its telescopic light tower to illuminate the adjacent parking lot.

Rescue 22 assumed a position whereby its crew could quickly lower the tower and respond should any emergency call require its response.

One emergency call was received at 7:20 p.m. for an unusual odor in the vicinity of Benjamin Franklin Elementary School.

Chief John Fleming and other units responded and quickly found that the odor was coming from a pavement sealer at 3120 Princeton Pike, so it proved unnecessary for Rescue 22 to leave its special assignment.

The night turned out to be a success, as the Cardinals won by a score of 20 to 7.
