| Details: All three Lawrence Township fire companies were dispatched on Box 23-50 for an overturned vehicle with possible entrapment. Rescue 23, Rescue 22, Rescue 21, and Ambulance 129-3 responded and arrived to find a vehicle resting on its side up against the Quaker Bridge Mall sign with the driver trapped inside. Firefighters went to work and had the driver extricated by 12:37 p.m. The victim was then transported by EMS to the hospital. Rescue 22 was back in quarters by 12:56 p.m. |

| Details: All three Ewing Township fire companies were toned out on Box 33-10 at 11:18 a.m. for a possible fire in the hotel. Units arrived to find smoke showing from the five-story structure, resulting in the full first alarm being transmitted. Lawrence Road’s Rescue 22 was dispatched at 11:25 a.m. as part of the upgrade. The situation was under control by 11:38 a.m. Apparatus that operated on scene were: Engine 33, Ladder Tower 33, Engine 33-1, Ladder Tower 31, Engine 31-1, Telesquirt 32, Rescue 32, Rescue 22, Ambulance 132-2 and Ambulance 151-1. Rescue 22 was back in quarters by 12:05 p.m. |

| Details: Pennington Borough Fire Co. (Station 51) and Engine 52 from Hopewell Borough Fire Co. were dispatched at 10:01 a.m. for a reported smoke condition inside the building. Police arrived and reported smoke showing, which resulted in Box 51-20’s full first alarm being transmitted. Lawrence Road’s Rescue 22, Lawrenceville’s Telesquirt 23, and tankers from Hopewell Borough and Union Fire Co. (Station 53) of Titusville were dispatched on the upgrade. First-due crews from Station 51 discovered that a fire in a light fixture in a computer room had already been extinguished by a suppression system and that only ventilation was needed. Rescue 22 was recalled prior to arrival on scene and was back in quarters by 10:15 a.m. |

| CAR VS. BUILDING |

| Details: All three Lawrence Township fire companies were dispatched for an accident involving a car that had hit a building, with unknown entrapment. Rescue 23, Rescue 22, Rescue 21 and Ambulance 129-3 responded. Rescue 22, the first apparatus to arrive, found that a car had crashed through the wall of the store. The driver was already out of the car and refused medical attention. The building sustained major damage but appeared structurally sound. Nevertheless, a township building inspector was called out to assess the situation. Rescue 22 was back in quarters by 7:30 p.m. |

| Details: Pennington Borough Fire Co. (Station 51) was dispatched at 9:18 a.m. for a fire alarm activation in an apartment building. Police and Engine 51 arrived on location at 9:27 a.m. to find fire showing. Hopewell Borough’s Engine 52, Lawrence Road’s Rescue 22 and Lawrenceville’s Telesquirt 23 were dispatched as Box 51-10’s full first alarm was transmitted at 9:30 a.m. Engine 51’s crew brought the fire under control at 9:37 a.m. By 9:42 a.m. all units were recalled with the exception of Engine 51, Ladder Tower 51 and Rescue 51. Rescue 22, which had just arrived on scene as the recall was given, was back in quarters by 9:55 a.m. |

| MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT |

| Location: Princeton Avenue and Spruce Street, Lawrence Township, N.J. |
| Details: All three Lawrence Township fire companies were dispatched for a two-vehicle collision at the intersection with possible entrapment. Rescue 21, Rescue 22, and Ewing Ambulance 139-1 responded and arrived to find that a car had been hit broadside by a Mack truck after the car allegedly drove through a red light. The right side of the car sustained major damage, but fortunately there had not been a passenger in the vehicle. The car’s driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police later issued the woman a ticket. The truck’s driver was not hurt. Rescue 22 was back in quarters by 7:50 a.m. |

| Location: Project Freedom, 39 Freedom Boulevard, Lawrence Township, N.J. |
| Details: All three Lawrence Township fire companies and Ladder Tower 31 from Prospect Heights Fire Co. were dispatched on Box 21-12 for a structure fire after a resident of the Project Freedom complex called 911 and reported seeing smoke coming from the home next door. Firefighters arrived to find that a 47-year-old woman, while trying to light a cigarette using a burner on her gas stove, had accidentally caught her clothing and hair on fire. The automatic sprinkler system installed in the home went off and had already extinguished the fire by the time the first emergency personnel arrived. The woman suffered third-degree burns to her head and upper body and was rushed by ambulance to Capital Health System at Fuld hospital in Trenton. She was later flown by helicopter to the burn unit at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. Apparatus that operated on scene were: Engine 21-1, Engine 22, Ladder Tower 23, Ladder Tower 31, and Ambulance 129-1. The state Division of Fire Safety also responded to the scene. Engine 22 was back in quarters by 5:54 a.m. |

| Details: Hamilton (Station 14-1) and Enterprise (Station 14-2) fire companies were dispatched for an odor of smoke inside the dwelling. Ladder 14 arrived to find a smoke condition in the home, prompting Chief 14-1 to request the full first alarm on Box 14-40 as a precaution. Dispatched on the upgrade were Mercerville’s Engine 12, Slackwood’s Snorkel 21, and Lawrence Road’s Rescue 22 as the RIT. Rescue 22 was recalled prior to arrival after first-due crews found that a heater malfunction had caused the smoke condition. The heater was shut down and the house ventilated. Rescue 22 was back in quarters by 2:31 a.m. |

| Location: 4024 Quakerbridge Road, Lawrence Township, N.J. |
| Details: All three Lawrence Township fire companies and Engine 12 from Mercerville Fire Co. were dispatched on Box 23-60 for a possible structure fire after a passing called 911 to report seeing flames coming from a house. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire showing from a one-story dwelling. The only person home at the time of the blaze, a Rider University student, had already escaped from the building. Suffering from smoke inhalation, he was transported by EMS to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton for treatment. Engine 22, the first apparatus to arrive on scene, took a position on Side A and its crew led off with a 1.75-inch hoseline. The crew was forced to back out of the structure after Engine 22 ran out of tank water and icing conditions caused a delay in the establishment of a supply line to a hydrant. After all personnel were out of the building, master stream operations were commenced using Engine 22’s deck gun and Snorkel 21. Master streams operations were shut down about 5:05 a.m. and crews reentered the house to extinguish hot spots. The fire was declared under control at 5:14 a.m. Because the overnight temperature was only 13 degrees Fahrenheit, several ambulances and a New Jersey Transit bus were used at the scene to rehab and warm the firefighters. At 6:12 a.m. Hamilton’s Ladder 14, Pennington Road’s Rescue 32 and Hopewell Borough’s Engine 52 were special-called to the scene from their cover assignments at Station 22 and Station 23 to help with overhaul. One firefighter suffered a minor injury when debris got in his eyes, but he was treated at the scene. Investigators later determined the fire had been sparked by a faulty electrical cord in a bedroom. Apparatus that operated on the scene were: Telesquirt 23, Ladder Tower 23, Snorkel 21, Engine 22, Rescue 22, Engine 12, Ladder 14, Rescue 32, Engine 52, Ambulance 129-1, Ambulance 129-3, Ambulance 110-2, and Ambulance 145-1. All Lawrence Road apparatus were back in quarters by 8:04 a.m. |
