| Location: Homasote Co., 900 Lower Ferry Road, Ewing Township, N.J. |
| Details: West Trenton Fire Co. (Station 33), Engine 32 from Pennington Road Fire Co., and Ladder Tower 31 from Prospect Heights Fire Co. were dispatched on Box 33-10 for a fire at the Homasote Co. at 9 p.m. Assistant Chief 33 arrived on scene at 9:03 p.m. and reported fire through the roof of the building. That resulted in an automatic upgrade to the first alarm and the dispatch of Lawrence Road’s Rescue 22 as the rapid intervention team. Assistant Chief 33 then requested a second alarm and special-requested Special Services 15 from DeCou Fire Co. Dispatched on the second alarm were Enterprise’s Engine 14-2, Slackwood’s Snorkel 21, Lawrenceville’s Telesquirt 23, and Pennington Borough’s Engine 51. Firefighters soon found that the fire was burning through the ductwork on the roof. Ladders were raised to the roof and several hoselines stretched. The blaze was declared under control at 9:42 p.m. After standing by at the command post at the RIT, Rescue 22’s crew was sent into the building to help hook up a high-rise pack to the standpipe system. Apparatus that operated on the scene were: Engine 33, Ladder Tower 33, Squirt 31, Ladder Tower 31, Engine 32, Rescue 32, Rescue 22, Engine 14-2, Snorkel 21, Telesquirt 23, Engine 51 and Special Services 15. Rescue 22 was back in quarters by 10:33 p.m. |

| HOMECOMING PARADE FOR TROOPS |

| Details: Members of Lawrence Road Fire Co., with Rescue 22, Telesquirt 22 and Car 22-1, took part in parade welcoming home about 75 soldiers from the New Jersey National Guard’s Task Force 50 Personnel Services Battalion and 250th Service Detachment, who had just finished serving a year-long tour of duty in Afghanistan. Following the parade, Gov. Jon Corzine greeted each of the soldiers at the armory. |

| ACCIDENT WITH ENTRAPMENT |

| Location: Lawrence Road (Route 206) in the area of Monroe Street, Lawrence Township, N.J. |
| Details: Lawrenceville Fire Co. (Station 23), Rescue 21 from Slackwood Fire Co., and Rescue 22 from Lawrence Road Fire Co. were dispatched with EMS on Box 23-10 for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Firefighters arrived to find that a car had veered off the road and slammed into a utility pole, trapping the driver. The vehicle was stabilized and the driver’s door was popped open by Rescue 23’s crew. Rescue 22’s crew then cut away the door, allowing EMS personnel access to the injured driver within just minutes. The driver was then transported to the hospital. Rescue 22 was back in quarters by 1:38 p.m. |

| ACCIDENT WITH ENTRAPMENT |
| Date & Time: Friday, March 16, 2007 – 10:14 a.m. |
| Location: Interstate 295 Northbound, near Route 1 exit, Lawrence Township, N.J. |
| Details: As a mixture of rain, sleet and snow fell all over Mercer County roads, Box 23-50 was transmitted for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on the northbound side of Interstate 295 near the Route 1 exit. Dispatched at that time were Lawrenceville Fire Co. (Station 23), Rescue 21 from Slackwood Fire Co., and Rescue 22 from Lawrence Road Fire Co. Rescue 23, Rescue 22 and Rescue 21 responded and arrived to find that a sport utility vehicle and a tractor-trailer had collided. The driver of the SUV was trapped. Rescue 22’s crew cut away the windshield and then stood by with their Holmatro tools while the crews from Rescue 23 and Rescue 21 cut away both driver’s side doors and the driver’s side B Post to free the trapped man. The extrication was completed by 10:43 a.m. and the injured man was transported by ambulance to the regional trauma center at Capital Health System at Fuld hospital in Trenton. Rescue 22 was back in quarters by 10:54 a.m. |

| STRUCTURE FIRE |
| Date & Time: Saturday, March 17, 2007 – 12:12 p.m. |
| Location: 1469 Princeton Avenue, Ewing Township, N.J. |
| Details: Firefighters from Lawrence Road Fire Co. celebrated part of St. Patrick’s Day by responding into Ewing Township to stand by as the rapid intervention team at a working structure fire. It was 12:07 p.m. when crews from all three Ewing Township fire companies – Prospect Heights (Station 31), Pennington Road (Station 32) and West Trenton (Station 33) – were dispatched to the apartment building at 1469 Princeton Avenue. Just minutes later police arrived and confirmed a working fire in a first-floor bathroom. As a result, the balance of the first alarm was immediately transmitted and Slackwood’s Engine 21-1 and Lawrence Road’s Rescue 22 were dispatched to the scene at 12:12 p.m. Police officers and the first arriving firefighter, Prospect Heights Ff. Jim Hall, used a portable extinguisher to hold the blaze in check until the first-due apparatus arrived. The fire was contained to the bathroom and the situation declared under control at 12:23 p.m. by Prospect Heights Chief Jeff Lenarski. There were no injuries reported. Apparatus that operated on the scene were: Squirt 31, Ladder Tower 31, Engine 31, Engine 32, Rescue 32, Ladder Tower 33, Engine 21-1, Rescue 22, and Ambulance 132-2. Rescue 22 was released from RIT duties and was back in quarters by 12:38 p.m. |

| TWO-ALARM BRUSH FIRE |
| Date & Time: Wednesday, March 28, 2007 – 8:44 p.m. |
| Location: 10 Model Avenue, Hopewell Borough, N.J. |
| Details: A crew from Lawrence Road Fire Co. responded on the second alarm to help battle a large brush fire. The blaze, sparked by a passing train, burned over two miles worth of brush and trees along railroad tracks in Hopewell Borough and Hopewell Township. The blaze threatened to spread to several businesses and homes – including several oil trucks parked at the rear of Valley Oil Co. on Somerset Street in Hopewell Borough – but in all cases firefighters were able to douse the flames before they could cause any property damage. Sparks from the third engine of a three-engine CSX freight train traveling west caused the fire. CSX personnel aboard the train spotted the fire, brought the train to a halt and reported the blaze about 8:30 p.m. – just as residents throughout Hopewell Borough began calling 911 to report seeing flames along the tracks. Hopewell Borough Fire Co. was toned out at 8:32 p.m. Mutual aid was quickly called in as first-due firefighters found flames, which in places were 15 to 20 feet high, burning along the railroad line from the area of Province Line Road at the Hopewell Township-Montgomery Township border all the way through Hopewell Borough out to Van Dyke Road in Hopewell Township. The second alarm was transmitted at 8:44 a.m. Upon arrival in Hopewell Borough, Rescue 22’s crew was ordered to handle a brush fire that had extended to the rear yard of 10 Model Avenue. Rescue 22’s crew used a 1.75-inch hoselines to extinguish the blaze, which measured about 100 feet by 20 feet. Rescue 22’s crew supplied themselves via a 3-inch line stretched to a nearby hydrant. The fire was doused with no damage to the residence. Apparatus that operated on the scene were: Engine 52-1, Engine 52 and Tanker 52 from Hopewell Borough; Rescue 51, Engine 51, Ladder Tower 51 and Brush 51 from Pennington Borough; Telesquirt 53 and Brush 53 from Union Fire Co.; Telesquirt 23, Ladder Tower 23 and Brush 23 from Lawrenceville Fire Co.; Lawrence Road’s Rescue 22; Engine 46 and Brush 46 from Montgomery Fire Co. #2; Engine 53 from Rocky Hill Fire Co.; and a brush unit from the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. Rescue 22 was back in quarters by 10:01 a.m. |
