HAZARDOUS MATERIALS DRILL

Date & Time: Thursday, July 19, 2007

Location: Rider University, 2083 Lawrence Road, Lawrence Township, N.J.

Details: A crew of Lawrence Road Fire Co. volunteers took part in a multi-agency hazardous material training exercise that was conducted in front of Maurer Gym on the Rider University campus. The drill simulated a motor vehicle accident involving the spill of sodium hydrochloric acid and muriatic acid from two 55-gallon drums. Also taking part in the event were firefighters from Slackwood and Lawrenceville fire companies, hazardous materials teams from Trenton Fire Department and Bristol Myers Squibb Emergency Services, Lawrence Township EMS and Lawrence Township Police. The drill started about 8:15 a.m. and ran until about 11 a.m.
