| Details: At 8:20 p.m., as Rescue 22 was committed to covering Station 18 in Hamilton, Mercer County Central dispatched the Lawrence Road (Station 22), Slackwood (Station 21) and Lawrencevile (Station 23) fire companies for a possible structure fire at 127 Merline Avenue. A neighbor had called 911 to report seeing fire in the kitchen. Police arrived on scene first and confirmed a working fire. As a result, Rescue 32 from Ewing Township’s Pennington Road Fire Co. was dispatched at 8:26 p.m. as the rapid intervention team. Telesquirt 22 arrived at 8:27 p.m. and the crew began to attack the fire in the kitchen with a 1.75-inch hoseline. Snorkel 21, Telesquirt 23 and Rescue 32 soon arrived to assist. Engine 31-1 from Ewing Township’s Prospect Heights Fire Co. was special-called to the scene for additional manpower. Crews contained the bulk of the fire to the kitchen and the blaze was declared under control at 8:49 p.m. The Red Cross was requested to assist two females and one male who were displaced by the fire. All Lawrence Road firefighters were back in quarters by 10:09 p.m. |

| HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCIDENT |
| Date & Time: Thursday, April 23, 2009 – 3:22 p.m. |
| Location: 2083 Lawrence Road, Lawrence Township, Mercer County, N.J. |
| Details: Lawrence Road Fire Co. was dispatched at 3:22 p.m. for a hazardous materials incident at Moore Library at Rider University. Upon their arrival Rescue 22’s crew met with campus security and Lawrence Township police, who had in their possession a brown prescription bottle that had been found in the library. The label read that the bottle was supposed to contain the drug Metformin in pill form, but the bottle contained a liquid. The HazMat task force from the Trenton Fire Department was requested to the scene. Trenton’s Rescue 1, Ladder 1 and Engine 1 arrived at 3:51 p.m. HazMat technicians analyzed the bottle’s contents and found that the liquid was gluconic acid, a non-hazardous cleaning solution. All units cleared the scene and Rescue 22 was back in quarters by 5:07 p.m. |

| STRUCTURE FIRE |
| Date & Time: Sunday, April 26, 2009 – 9:25 a.m. |
| Location: 186 King Avenue, Ewing Township, Mercer County, N.J. |
| Details: Pennington Road (Station 32), Prospect Heights (Station 31) and West Trenton (Station 33) fire companies were dispatched at 9:20 a.m. for a possible structure fire at 186 King Avenue. Ewing firefighters were already on the road, having been dispatched five minutes earlier to another call on Parkway Avenue. As a result, crews quickly arrived on King Avenue to find a working fire on the second floor of the home. Lawrence Road’s Rescue 22 was dispatched at 9:25 a.m. as the rapid intervention team. Rescue 22 arrived on scene at 9:34 a.m. and assumed RIT duties. The blaze was declared under control at 9:39 a.m. Apparatus that operated on scene included: Telesquirt 32, Engine 32, Ladder Tower 31, Engine 31-1, Squirt 31, Light Plant 31, Engine 33, and Rescue 22. Rescue 22 was released at 10 a.m. and was back in quarters by 10:05 a.m. |

| STAND BY ASSIGNMENT |

| Location: Engine 1, 460 Calhoun Street, Trenton City, Mercer County, N.J. |
| Details: Snorkel 21 from Slackwood Fire Co. and Rescue 22 from Lawrence Road Fire Co. were dispatched at 3:37 a.m. to relocate to the Calhoun Street firehouse in Trenton to help cover the capital city while Trenton firefighters were busy battling a two-alarm fire in two vacant structures in the 200 block of North Warren Street. Trenton firefighters were first alerted to the blaze about 3:09 a.m. and arrived to find heavy fire showing from the rear of the buildings. Rescue 22 arrived at the Calhoun Street station at 3:50 a.m. and stood by there, without receiving any assignments, until being recalled at 5:58 a.m. Rescue 22 was back in quarters at Station 22 by 6:05 a.m. |

| BRUSH FIRE WITH EXTENSION TO STRUCTURE |
| Date & Time: Monday, April 27, 2009 – 10:26 p.m. |
| Location: 175 Review Avenue, Lawrence Township, Mercer County, N.J. |
| Details: Several Lawrence Road Fire Co. firefighters were at the firehouse when a civilian stopped his car on the front ramp and reported there was some kind of fire in the area of Lawrence Road and Review Avenue. As firefighters were gearing up, Mercer County Central dispatched Station 22 for a brush fire behind 175 Review Avenue at 10:26 p.m. Telesquirt 22 arrived at 10:29 p.m. to find a large area of brush and shrubbery – approximately 25 feet by 25 feet in size – burning in the back yard of the property. A small shed was already involved in flames, and the fire was threatening the wooden rear deck of the home. Assistant Chief Shaun Dlabik immediately requested that Engine 21-1 be dispatched from Slackwood Fire Co. to assist with water supply. Telesquirt 22’s crew began attacking the fire and protecting the exposures with a 1.75-inch hoseline and a booster line. Crews from Engine 22 and Engine 21-1 soon arrived to help. The fire was knocked down by 10:42 p.m. While the shed was destroyed, the rear deck and the home itself were saved from any damage. After overhauling the fire and assisting township fire inspectors with their investigation, all firefighters cleared the scene and were back in quarters by 11:44 p.m. |

| STRUCTURE FIRE |

| Location: 51 Mabel Street, Ewing Township, Mercer County, N.J. |
| Details: Ladder Tower 31 from Prospect Heights Fire Co. was returning to its firehouse after having responded to a dumpster fire at the college of New Jersey when the crew spotted a smoke condition in the area of Mabel Street. Going to investigate, they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the two-story dwelling at 51 Mabel Street. They immediately requested Box 31-10’s full first alarm, which resulted in the dispatch at 2:33 p.m. of all three Ewing Township fire companies – Prospect Heights (Station 31), Pennington Road (Station 32) and West Trenton (Station 33) – and Rescue 22 from Lawrence Road Fire Co. as the rapid intervention team. Rescue 22’s crew sit up as RIT in front of the building as Ewing firefighters battled the blaze. With heavy fire in the attic, additional units (Slackwood’s Engine 21 and Union-Titusville’s Engine 53) were special called to the scene at 2:49 p.m. The blaze was under control by 3 p.m., however crews had extensive overhaul to do. Units that operated on the scene included: Ladder Tower 31, Engine 31-1, Engine 32, Rescue 32, Telesquirt 32, Engine 33, Rescue 22, Engine 21, and Engine 53. Rescue 22 was released from the scene at 3:38 p.m. and was back in quarters by 3:44 p.m. |
